Tidbits from our trip to Houston

We just got back from a week long trip to Houston, Texas. We did our vicarage there and made some friends who have become our family. Here are some highlights from the trip.

-Perpetual sweat. 89 degrees and 89% humidity. When you live in the Bay Area where there is 0% humidity, this is quite an adjustment.
-A shopping trip to Target. This was great because #1 it was with Tamara, #2 we walked up and down every single aisle and got to carefully look at anything we wanted because #3 the kids weren't with us.
-Cindy's chocolate martinis. So yummy.
-Going to church and sitting next to my husband.
-Not being anyone's pastor (or the pastor's family). I am not the pastor, as you all know, so I guess Nate was just Nate this week and I was happy for him to be just Nate this week.
-Seeing our kids get to know and love Shelby and Seth (Chuck and Tamara's kids).
-An evening of excellent Mexican food, a good margarita, and a few hours of singing along to the Bon Jovi DVD.
-Watching Seth pin Abby under a large bucket. Her little legs was hanging out and she was crying so hard. I so wanted to go grab my camera because it really was a hilarious sight, but I would have felt guilty for leaving my screaming, scared child under a bucket while I snapped a picture of her.
-Visiting with Nate's aunt and uncle. They are so loving and giving and fun to be with. We love connecting with family we don't get to see often.
-Experiencing the friendliness of Texans. There really has to be something to Southern hospitality. People wave to you, they talk to you in stores--it's a phenomenon that I've only seen in Texas.
-The best pedicure ever--Really, this place (and I can't remember the name of it) tops all the other places I've been. Not that there's been many, but if I lived in Kingwood, I'd have a hard time avoiding that place.
-Going to the zoo and watching Seth chase ducks in the mud.
-The best part was just being able to spend time some of our favorite people in the whole world. They love us and we love them.

I am just making an assumption that you were referring to me... You are some of my favorite people as well! I love you.
